New partnership with the World Resource Institute and Future Earth

We are now a “Contributing Partner” to the Partnership for Resilience and & Preparedness led by the World Resource Institute and Future Earth. This partnership aims at building climate resilience with improved quality data access. We will support the partnership with our Ready-to-use climate projections, along with The Weather Company, NOAA or NASA.

The Partnership for Resilience and Preparedness (PREP) is a public-private collaboration that aims to facilitate access to data, tools, and information to build climate resilience. PREP emerged from the recognition that while there is a vast amount of data on climate and socio-economic factors, it is often inaccessible or difficult to use for planning and decision-making. The initiative seeks to overcome these barriers by fostering collaboration among data and technology companies, research institutions, government agencies, and other stakeholders.

Key aspects of the Partnership for Resilience and Preparedness include:

  1. Data Access and Sharing: PREP focuses on making climate, environmental, and socio-economic data more accessible and usable for communities, businesses, and governments. It supports the development and dissemination of datasets that are vital for understanding and preparing for climate risks.
  2. Tools for Planning: It promotes the development of tools and platforms that can assist users in analyzing data and making informed decisions about climate resilience. This includes interactive maps, dashboards, and other resources that can help visualize and interpret complex information.
  3. Collaborative Network: PREP operates as a collaborative platform, bringing together partners from various sectors including government, private sector, non-profits, and research institutions. These partners work together to identify data needs, contribute datasets, and develop innovative tools and approaches.
  4. Supporting Decision Making: The initiative is geared towards helping decision-makers at all levels—from local to global—integrate climate resilience into their planning and investment decisions. This involves not just providing data but also ensuring it is relevant and actionable.
  5. Engagement and Outreach: PREP engages with a broad audience, including policymakers, businesses, community leaders, and the general public. It aims to raise awareness about the importance of climate resilience and preparedness and to empower stakeholders through better access to information.
  6. Adaptation and Resilience Building: Ultimately, the goal of PREP is to enhance the capacity of societies to adapt to climate change, reduce vulnerability to its impacts, and prepare for future conditions and extreme weather events.

PREP is an example of how collaborative efforts can leverage data and technology to address some of the pressing challenges posed by climate change. By improving access to data and tools, PREP aims to enable more effective resilience planning and preparedness activities across various sectors and communities.
